Getting ready to lift the first log for course #6. We decided to start on the south side of the house for a change. |
We hooked two chains together, fed them through the bucket, and made chokers on each end so they wouldn't slip. |
The trick is finding the balance point to make it easier to maneuver the log while it's in the air. |
Lifting up and over the overdangles. |
Guiding the log into position. |
Suspending the log just above the wall so we can make sure it's tight against the inner poles as it gets lowered. |
Paul gently sets the log on the wall. |
An interesting view from the opposite wall. |
We began the pinning near the center of this log since it had a significant bow to it. |
We then could plumb the corners simply by pushing or pulling on the ends. This actually helps straighten the log a bit and better aligns the centers. |
