Getting ready to lift the first log for course #6. We decided to start on the south side of the house for a change.

We hooked two chains together, fed them through the bucket, and made chokers on each end so they wouldn't slip.

The trick is finding the balance point to make it easier to maneuver the log while it's in the air.

Lifting up and over the overdangles.

Guiding the log into position.

Suspending the log just above the wall so we can make sure it's tight against the inner poles as it gets lowered.

Paul gently sets the log on the wall.

An interesting view from the opposite wall.

We began the pinning near the center of this log since it had a significant bow to it.

We then could plumb the corners simply by pushing or pulling on the ends. This actually helps straighten the log a bit and better aligns the centers.
