The first half of the day was rainy. John ran the excavator and Paul spotted as we opened the trench the rest of the distance to the new utility pole.

Our new pole in the foreground and the new "feed" pole across the road in the background.

It was our job to mount the galvanized riser conduit on the pole.

At the opposite end of the conduit, back at the transformer pit, the power company has snaked their pulling rope through by tying it to our rope already in the conduit.

It only took a few minutes for the power company to pull the electric cable through the 575 feet of conduit.

When we finished our work at the pole, we started working on digging the trench from the house to the meter base, which will be mounted in our back hedgerow.

The power company had the transformer set and leveled in the early afternoon.

From here, we'll run cable about 50 feet to the back hedgerow where we'll mount the meter and main disconnect.

By the time Paul and Jeff got back from a run to Lowe's for more conduit, John had most of the trench dug from the house back to the meter location.

Taking a few last scoops to finish off the trench.
