The first half of the day was rainy. John ran the excavator and Paul spotted as we opened the trench the rest of the distance to the new utility pole. |
Our new pole in the foreground and the new "feed" pole across the road in the background. |
It was our job to mount the galvanized riser conduit on the pole. |
At the opposite end of the conduit, back at the transformer pit, the power company has snaked their pulling rope through by tying it to our rope already in the conduit. |
It only took a few minutes for the power company to pull the electric cable through the 575 feet of conduit. |
When we finished our work at the pole, we started working on digging the trench from the house to the meter base, which will be mounted in our back hedgerow. |
The power company had the transformer set and leveled in the early afternoon. |
From here, we'll run cable about 50 feet to the back hedgerow where we'll mount the meter and main disconnect. |
By the time Paul and Jeff got back from a run to Lowe's for more conduit, John had most of the trench dug from the house back to the meter location. |
Taking a few last scoops to finish off the trench. |
