Since we had so much lumber to cut, our friend, Jim, agreed to bring his portable sawmill to us this time. Here's our first 6x8 beam for our 2nd floor.

Bob locks this beam in place before taking off a slab to get it down to the dimension we need.

We did our best to minimize waste, using as much of each log as we could. This was a log that was too narrow to get a 6x8 out of, but it was just fine for framing lumber.

Just two beams out of the logs we cut up today, but a lot of siding material and some lumber.
