To nail the gable panels in place, Jeff worked off the ladder while Paul was on the scaffold inside.
Dennis and Bob took the measurements from Paul and Jeff to custom-cut each panel.

Matt climbed up on the roof to cut back the cap logs and ridge pole.
Stephen just wanted to follow his Uncle Issac around and play in the dirt.

Matt worked on the cap logs on the north end of the house while the rest of the crew worked on the south end. He decided to wait for the forklift to do the ridge pole.
Paul takes a measurement for the next gable panel.

Bob cuts the next panel for the guys up at the gable.

Jeff watches Paul nail the top of a panel while standing on the sill.
We took a short break from the gable work to lift Matt up on the south side of the house so he could cut back the roof logs.

Meanwhile, the aerial crew took a break to watch Matt at work.
Matt also was in a good position to cut off the piece of the end pitch bracket that overhung the rafter plate.

With the metal pitch bracket cut back flush with the rafter plate, Matt then cut off the excess of the cap log.
Once Matt was finished, he came down to operate the forklift.

Bob cutting another panel for the second half of the south gable wall.
Moving around to the north side of the house, we first lifted Matt up to cut back the ridge pole.

Sending down the ridge pole cutoff.
Stephen doing his own version of "grading".

Jeff brings Matt down from the ridge pole. That was the last of the log cutting for Matt.
Paul up on the lift with Issac and Dennis inside on the scaffold.

Dennis was a great addition to the crew and really enjoyed himself. Hope he is able to come back soon.
A view from the forklift deck looking down at Matt in the driver's seat.

Looking down on our front yard and driveway from up on the forklift deck.
After the gables were finished (except for the small pieces to be cut to fit around the ridge pole), we decided to use the daylight we had left to start the first row of roof sheathing.
